WAZER Pro Power Requirements

Overview

Ensure that your electric installation meets ALL the following requirements:

The WAZER Pro comes as two common models for the majority of the regions, and one specific model for regions with specific grid frequency.

  • Two common models are:

    • WAZER Pro (60Hz)

    • WAZER Pro (50Hz)

  • One special model is:

    • WAZER Pro (60hz Single Phase)

Power requirements are:

  • Split-Phase 230 VAC 60hz for WAZER Pro (60Hz)

  • Single Phase 230 VAC 50hz for WAZER Pro (50Hz).

  • Single Phase 230 VAC 60hz for WAZER Pro (60Hz Single Phase)

WAZER Pro 50Hz uses IEC 60309-2P electric plug. WAZER Pro (60hz Single Phase) also uses IEC 0309-2P electric plug. This plug is 32A rated.

WAZER Pro 60Hz uses NEMA L6-20 plug. This plug is 20A rated.

Power to WAZER Pro machines should have at least a 20A breaker wired. WAZER Pro machine draws 13-16A during stable operation.

Set up for North American and West Japan

Split-Phase 230VAC 60hz Setup

sPLIT-pHASE

The WAZER Pro 60hz machine runs on 230VAC from typical North American standard split phase power supply.

To achieve 230VAC, the following setup is used:

  • 230VAC is achieved by combing two 110-120V power supply.

  • Voltage from Each Live/Hot to Ground is 110-120V.

  • Voltage measured between the two Live/Hot is 220-240V.

  • Ensure voltage between any Live/Hot to ground is NOT 220VAC Nor 208V

NEMA L6-20 plug Connection

The Pro Wazer 60hz utilizes a L6-20 AC cord plug. It is designed to plug into an L6-20R and then twist-lock into place. There are three blades coming out of the plug. One of the blades is larger and has a tab on it. This is the ground/ neutral reference plug (see a3). The other two (a1 and a2) are the hot 1 and hot 2 leads respectively.

  • Leads a1 receives 120 VAC

  • Leads a2 receives 120 VAC.

  • Leads a3 receives 0 VAC, it is the ground pin.

NEMA L6-20R Receptacle Connection

If your workshop does not have an matching receptacle to accept the L6-20 plug. There is a L6-20R Receptacle shipped with the WAZER Pro 60hz.

[Warning] The receptacle installation is a very technical task and can only performed by licensed electricians. Do not attempt to install the receptacle yourself, or have unlicensed personnel perform the task. Incorrectly connected receptacle may destroy WAZER Pro, cause property damage, bodily injury or even death.

After the L6-20R receptacle is assembled, use a multi-meter to measure the voltage between the poles, you should have the following reading:

  • Voltage between Hot 1 and Hot 2 should be 220-240V

  • Voltage between Hot 1 and Ground should be 110-120V

  • Voltage between Hot 2 and Ground should be 110-120V

Set up for East Japan

Split-Phase 230VAC 50hz Setup

sPLIT-pHASE

The WAZER Pro 50hz machine is able to operate on 230VAC generated from standard East Japan split phase power supply.

To achieve 230VAC, the following setup is used:

  • 230VAC is achieved by combing two 100-120V power supply.

  • Voltage from Each Live/Hot to Ground is 100-120V.

  • Voltage measured between the two Live/Hot is 200-240V.

  • Ensure voltage between any Live/Hot to ground is NOT 220VAC Nor 208V

Single-Phase 230VAC 60hz Setup

Single-pHASE

The WAZER Pro 60hz (Single PHASE) machine runs on standard 230VAC 60hz single phase supply.

The following setup is used:

  • 230VAC is acquired direly from the grid supply.

  • Voltage from Live/Hot to Ground is 220-240V.

  • Voltage from Neutral to Ground is 0V

  • Make sure the supply line is able to handle 20A for prolonged duration.

  • Make sure the breaker in the supply line is Type C or Type D.

iec 60309 2p+e Receptacle Connection

If your workshop does not have an matching receptacle to accept the IEC 60309 plug. There is a corresponding Receptacle shipped with the WAZER Pro 60hz.

After the IEC 60309 2P+E receptacle is assembled, use a multi-meter to measure the voltage between the poles, you should have the following reading:

  • Voltage between LIVE/HOT and Ground should be 220-240V

  • Voltage between LIVE/HOT and Neutral should be 220-240V

  • Voltage between Neutral and Ground should be 0V
