Leaking Low Pressure Filter Gauge Fix

We discovered a batch of our Low  Pressure Filter Kits went out with an insufficient amount of Teflon tape on the Low Pressure Gauge threads.  This leads to a slow drip that certainly less than ideal.  Luckily the fix is quite quick and if you are experiencing the problem WAZER support can send you a roll of Teflon tape to carry out the following procedure.

Tools Needed:

  • 7/16", 11mm Wrench, or Adjustable Wrench
  • Teflon Tape

4.    Remove all of the old Teflon tape from the threads,  A dental pick or wire brush can make this a lot easier.   Any teflon left on the threads has the potential to ruin the seal.

5.  Wrap at between 5-10  wraps of Teflon around the threads.  The number of turns will depend on the thickness of the tape you are using.  Mimicking the setup in the photo below will help ensure the Teflon is even and tightly applied

6.     Hand tighten the gauge back into the Low Pressure Filter until snug.  From snug tighten at least 1.5 turns more and continue until the gauge is lined up.

7.    Re-install back into your plumbing.  Don't forget to make sure that the Filter Clean out Knob is fully tightened before turning the water back on.
